I've recently and very suddenly fallen back into love with poetry and I was wondering what some of your favorite poems might be. Feel free to share if you like!

Mine is "The Old Astronomer to His Pupil" by Sarah Williams.

Quote:
Reach me down my Tycho Brahe, I would know him when we meet,
When I share my later science, sitting humbly at his feet;
He may know the law of all things, yet be ignorant of how
We are working to completion, working on from then to now.

Pray remember that I leave you all my theory complete,
Lacking only certain data for your adding, as is meet,
And remember men will scorn it, 'tis original and true,
And the obliquy of newness may fall bitterly on you.

But, my pupil, as my pupil you have learned the worth of scorn,
You have laughed with me at pity, we have joyed to be forlorn,
What for us are all distractions of men's fellowship and smiles;
What for us the Goddess Pleasure with her meretricious smiles.

You may tell that German College that their honor comes too late,
But they must not waste repentance on the grizzly savant's fate.
Though my soul may set in darkness, it will rise in perfect light;
I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night.

Sometimes I struggle with my demons. Other times we just fuck and have cheesecake.

I enjoy a lot of poems but those are the two that came to mind now. Very Happy

Rome: I really liked the emotion in that OCD one.

inb4 Nyneve shows up.

Also:
"I contradict myself? Very well then, I contradict myself; I am large, I contain multitudes." Elias had a tendency to quote Walt Whitman.

Also, Psalm 88's pretty good.

Beauty is eternity gazing at itself in a mirror.

But you are eternity and you are the mirror. "

i also love Izumi Shikibu:

Quote:
In this world
love has no color
yet how deeply
my body
is stained by yours.
Quote:
Even if I now saw you
only once
I would long for you
through worlds,
worlds.
Quote:
Although the wind
blows terribly here,
the moonlight also leaks
between the roof planks
of this ruined house.
