Hey,

Myself and a few others are trying to find a new RPI to settle in on and we would like to play together (predictably). Is it permitted to have shared backgrounds so our PCs would have met at some point prior to chargen and know each other?

Its not a problem. The only thing you can't do is make a new character related to an old character of yours.

Yeah, joint backgrounds are okay; there's even a general discussion thread where people look for others to do that. Circles can be frowned on though if you consistently roll into the same clans as it off-balances them or if you ignore other possible roleplay that doesn't come from your friends.
