You can craft, scav, treat, sell yourself as a guard, rob people, etc etc. Don't forget about the auctioneer, it can be anyone's own personal shop.

Craft: You need a kit for this. These require (a lot of) chips after your starter one's exhausted.

Scav/Treat/Guarding: People typically don't have the chips to pay you for this, because chips are in the hands of a select few who generally have their own underlings to provide these things.

Rob people: I get the feeling this is pretty hit-or-miss and likely a quick way to PC death.

That's not to disagree with Throttle's vision. I like that everyone's generally poor and they should be, but there should be some way to acquire small amounts of chips, over time, for the average slummer, if only so they can keep doing small things on their own.

Most kits have parts that can be scavenged.

You can try to get a job with another shop owner.

You can try to get side-work with a faction without joining said faction.

What I wouldn't mind seeing is instead of chips dispenser mobs, maybe someone who 'buys' things in barter for food, and who other people can barter off of, trading food for scavenged items bartered.

Question : Were turfquests recently tweaked in regards to the amount of chips a person receives? Usually I get the flat rate of a red chip each interaction, but last night when I went a-helping one incidence netted me a blue chip, the next was only a white chip.

They've always been random.

The regular ones pay a red on average, but can swing either way.

The special ones pay a blue on average to their respective clans, but can swing either way, but -always- pay a yellow to opposing clans. The logic there is that the respective clan's going to be letting him keep a bit more, because they probably have a fairer deal. Opposing families just want all of his chips.
