Keep an eye on this thread for all the latest and greatest additions to Parallel!

Today: UNDERWEAR! Complete with two new wearlocs. 'Overwear' is for your bras, and 'underwear' is for underpants!

GO CRAZY.

POSSIBLY LATER TONIGHT: COMPUTERS! (okay probably not tonight, but, uh, maybe, if I drink a lot more coffee and can't sleep!)

Pending next reboot, glowsticks are now codedly plastic and can thus be recycled into polyprop. They don't weigh very much so it'll take quite a lot of them, but they are no longer useless trash that just ends up littering every dark room. *stern look*

This might not apply to previously existing glowsticks and we're not going around reloading hundreds of the damn things for people. You can tell if it's a new one by whether or not it has 'plastic' as a keyword. If you see piles of old spent glowsticks, feel free to junk them as it's getting a little out of hand in some places.

Just clarifying, since there have been some misconceptions:

If you're taking a role that comes with skill boosts, you can put the smaller of the boosts into a defensive skill. The restriction only applies to the bigger boost. For instance, a 1RPP role can put the +5 one in deflect, but not the +10 one.

The reason for this restriction is that defensive skills are the hardest to increase, and are often the most important factor in determining a character's combat prowess. We don't want characters to start out with a higher deflect skill than can reasonably be obtained through gameplay. Back in Atonement, it was possible to start out with a deflect that was halfway between talented and adroit if you had enough RPP, and that just wasn't balanced, nor did it in any way resemble how skills would increase through use.

We want skill boosts to vaguely emulate a character's natural skill growth as it would have turned out via normal gameplay, and the natural progression is for defensive skills to increase at a slower rate than other combat skills. Something might be said of firearm skills, but then again, they're a different type of skill altogether and it would be entirely possible for someone to use only guns for combat and to increase those skills significantly without raising defensive skills in the progress. Anyone with enough RPP to boost a gun skill significantly is a player that we trust not to abuse it, and it doesn't have the kind of direct combat influence that defensive skills do.

The 'real money' newbie shop is no longer a real money shop. It now sells a variety of packages containing the items formerly available there, in exchange for rations. Newbies will now enter the gameworld with a reduced number of chips.

Cooking has been audited slightly. All cooked items are now at least twice as filling as paste-made packets. Some are substantially better.
