At the moment, I can honestly say that I'm not voting because I don't feel inspired to. The game feels stagnant and I don't feel much motivation to play. |
Seconded. I hope the best for the game, but there are other games with equal staff with one dedicated story teller, and it feels like things are happening. (That's where my votes are). It just seems like this game has no one on story. A not-filled out crafting system and simple map doesn't matter if you breathe life into something with a few small animations and maybe occasional intrigue, some reaction to people's sandbox accomplishments and failures. etc.

Guys, honestly, I think the staff knows about these concerns, and at this point, the only thing that adding more complaints will do is to drive new players away (if I were a new player looking over the forums as they are, I'd run away from all this bitchiness and in-fighting FAST) and discourage the admins we have - and if more admins get burned out, guess what happens? We no longer have a game to bitch about at all.
So. Let me say this as lovingly as I can, because seriously I don't hate any of you, and would love everybody to stay...
But if the game isn't working for you, to the point that you're frustrated and bored and making lots of negativity about it? I think for your own sake/your mental health it might be better to take a break. The game will either get better or it will cease to exist, and if it gets better you can come back when it's better.
But for now, can we please just assume that our admins are doing their best, and that nothing is going to change on the admin activity front, and get on with playing? It seems to me that the biggest problem with the game right now is just the negativity and people being burned out. Not everyone is unhappy or burned out, though, so maybe if those who are could refrain from making comparisons of our staff to that of other games (completely unfair and demeaning/demoralizing to our admins) or complaining of things that haven't been done to their satisfaction (more of the same) or calling for game-wide reforms (not going to happen with a small staff) or sniping at each other (destroys our sense of community and makes everything toxic), we might be on a better course for a brighter future with this game.
Again, my call is not in an attempt to kick people out - but speaking from experience, I wish I had taken a break when I got burned out, rather than pushing through and being unhappy. These games have a real addictive power to them, but if you can break out of it now and again when you're miserable, things start to look not so bad after just two or three days away.

You know what we need. A complete wipe of the forums aside from stickied threads. Just clean slate for it all

A couple of the reasons i have found for people not wanting to take breaks is the perception that they will return and be grossly out matched codedly. Another is that, despite genuinely loving the game premise and the staff, they will not have the want to return after a month.

So far I think the staff are great and I am enjoying the game. The only thing stopping me from playing more is real-life responsibility. A couple of my emails may not have been answered, but they were always for the more difficult things.
I think in terms of forwarding plot, there needs to be some flexibility. Maybe admin aren't responding to some email about wanting to explore some special place with some special equipment. Why not just go try to roleplay through it anyway? Worst come to worst something will happen and that's more fun than nothing happening.

Given the minimal PVP, I can't say it's much of a concern.

Well then it is not a problem anymore, fantastic.
This is exactly the kind of bullshit, sarky comment that provokes tempers and drives more people away. A reasonabke. concern was expressed, not the biggest by any means, but one that could be addressed swiftly and easily.
Instead, as mentioned before in the Cael's thread, it simply is not regarded as a problem by the Mouth of the Players.
The game is not GrandpaMUD. You hold a lot of authority in the comminity both IG and OOC. You have experience and insight in to a lot of game aspects few of us have. Try using it for the betterment of the OOC community and be inclusive and engaging. Find your kicks another way besides dictating the way the forums go.

Umm...I think he was just saying people don't commonly try and kill eachother so it's not a big hassle if your skills aren't up to par with other people's skills.
He never said this was GrandpaMUD or anything. Just like...chillax, Roadhawk.

A lot of attention has been on a big project lately and honestly it's pretty much just Wilde for RPAs these days and me as a builder. Things will be getting better soon.
