Uh no.
= Being forced to pay extra money for extra race options,
=limiting the imperial race to the collectors copy, =shitting all over lore,
=giving mounts to people who pay extra money.
=Not even released yet and it has more controversy than SWTOR which flopped.
I'm not giving that company a dime. They are just milking the elder scrolls name.

This is WoW in a nutshell, to be fair.
On the other hand...

Motherfuckers shitting on my Elder Scrolls lore, Godfuckingdamnit. I care about that shit!
But no, I'm not going to be playing this. Fuck MMOs; I want Fallout 4.

I checked out the beta a while ago.
It felt forced. Too forced for me.
MMO mechanics on Elder Scrolls lore felt like a monstrosity. Gameplay was actually alright aside from some small issues I imagine they've since fixed.
I felt like SWTOR did a much better job making the lore and the gameplay mesh well and feel authentic.
I'm currently messing around with the Wasteland 2 Beta though.

I've yet to find an MMO that wasn't let down by its static themepark design. I mean, at the end of the day, if you kill gorbad the giant and then 500 people else kill gorbad, what point is there in continuing to risk your life and fight monsters if they keep coming back?
Maybe that is the roleplayer in me but MMOs get boring fast for this reason.

You cannot have RP in an MMO. Any attempt to do it is going to feel artificial and foolish. The 'skin' should only exist to give you things to do. Go kill 50 bears because we're hungry. Go kill this legendary thing because we'll give you loot. The mechanics are what you should play an MMO for, not the story - because the story is pretty stupid, and that's just kind of what it's expected to be like.

Well.
I think SWTOR actually did reasonably decent at window-dressing a story and not making it feel forced.

Star Wars is one, if not the most, powerful and widespread IP in the world. They have fans of all ages, races, colors and creed. It has been established, opened up in all manner of forms from comics, movies, games, books, campaign settings, theme parks and everything in between.
If they can not make one that people will play consistently, nobody can. MMOG's are now the death knell (I used to love that place) for video game series. They refocus all the top staff of their various studios to this one sinking ship in order to squeeze their investment out of it. When it fails, they shut studios, close down projects and instead invest in 'safer' video games. Ones with flashy graphics, a good hook and no substance.
tl:dr TESO was a stupid idea, it will fail, the lore has been fucked harder than Lifts-Her-Tail.

People that continue to bitch out TOR based on its initial content tend to not know exactly how much more content has been added consistently and for free, with the exception of the Makeb expansion, although that is now free with subscriber status.
All that said, yeah, MMOs really aren't the way to go for IPs. I think a stream of strong single player games with a little multiplayer (think ME3) thrown in is best.
Dat battlefront 3 doe.
