I still advocate the idea of short-range concussion guns that work the same as melee weapons in every sense but looks.

I still think you can't have a SF/postapoc setting without real guns. We can isolate and fix whatever problems people think are present in time. But I don't see what's the big deal, you could be just as easily and just as twinkishly pk'd with blades.
