Noone ever used it, but they had it. Plus, technically, we eat people all the time, when we breathe them. |
I used it.

Beetles and spiders can't be butchered because their meat is practically jelly (and also I got lazy). Every other animal should be butcherable unless I forgot one, and there are cooking crafts for all of them. If some of them don't yield enough meat, this can be looked into, but a lagato yields up to six slabs of lagato meat which each cook into the best food item in the game, as well as two racks of ribs and two piles of organ meat. In total, this amounts to the equivalent of like 20 food packets or something.
Humans can't be butchered because there would instantly be seventeen PCs with I AM A CANNIBAL HUEHAHO as the character concept. Also, eating a lot of human meat has some effects on the body that I'm sure nobody is interested in trying to code.
People in Rust regard eating the paste of late humans as quite desperate and vile, but ultimately permissible. Since there's no way to tell what a tub of paste was made from, I wouldn't expect anybody to try and keep track, but it's something they might include in their roleplay while carrying poor Bob to the breathers.

Ok, this doesn't make sense.
If you hit forage when you are "still traveling" on accident. It counts as your forage attempt.

It's because a prog is set up to limit foraging down there. Don't think there's a way to fix that but I don't know anything about that.

Yeah, that's only in the sewers, and is just a measure to diminish twinking.

As much as I hate to put it this way, golden bullets is probably the most glaring case of balance over theme in a long time. I really wish it was replaced by a slightly less puzzling solution, even if it just meant renaming gold to lead. Even then, it still wouldn't make a whole lot of sense since we only use lead in bullets because it is so easy to obtain. If this wasn't the case, we would simply find a substitute or just resort to firing armour-piercing rounds that are made out of tungsten or steel. Not to mention that something as soft as gold, unless it is covered by a jacket, would just dissolve in a high-velocity round.
Not to mention the fact that if I wanted to kill someone in a slum, I wouldn't waste something like gold that is almost irreplaceable in certain electronic components, but instead hire a gang of dudes with stones for ten food packs.
I get the idea of suspension of disbelief, but golden bullets... You know, in a fantasy game, sure, but this is hard sci-fi and while I understand why it is the way it is, it's not the thing I would ever mention advertising the game.
Maybe it would be a good idea to overwrite this by just sci-fying it up a little and making bullets like swords with different grades of metal. Put in a "power-bullet compression generator machine" into the game and let armours of higher grade metals than the bullet more resistible to them. Something like that. Or since we're all recent descendants of convicts living in a ghetto, maybe we can just say that everyone reached a consensus that shooting anything cheaper than gold is for pussies.

This is not hard sci-fi or anything near hard sci-fi. Saying so is wishful thinking rather than actual truth.

What exactly is there in game that you would describe as blatantly contradicting laws of physics (simplified crafting recipes aside)?
