I wasn't really bitching at the op, right then. Just...at the playerbase in general and the powergamers therein, you know? The ones who seem dead but then scav and fight and have triggers to do all that stuff for them without even ever typing an emote or action about it.

A little IC antagonism would do wonders for the game, in my eyes

I would recommend people be very very -VERY- cautious with this as bandwagon is a very serious problem with these type of games. If somebody does through themselves out to their and creates some antagonism or friction then remember they are a PC, do some RP ignoring them DO NOT JUST IGNORE THE FUCK OUT OF THEM.

I would add, IC antagonism doesn't mean PvP. It doesn't have to be coded at all. All it means is reflecting, within your characters, the gritty reality of the world you exist in.

I wrote a long post but it seems to come out like I am complaining and as I am a new player I am not trying to give the wrong impression.

I have a few bullet points I will put instead so it doesn't sound like a rant.

-- I do not play a combat/scav character. So this is all from an outside perspective of these runs.
-- There was mention of not leaving anyone behind as a reason the family conflict doesn't really happen, but this is not true. People are left behind. It is those of us who don't go on scav runs and watch the entire player population vanish with the mention of a Metro Run and then we're doing some solo roleplay all of a sudden.
-- The family conflict is non-existent and it is depressing. I think part of the reason is these scav runs, and Bjork's and the Market itself. It makes it so the family lines blur because everyone goes to this safe haven that allows it. If we all visited our respective family based establishments more often it would develop a stronger sense of family community, and think if Bjork's didn't exist? We would all have to visit the other families turf if we wanted to interact, and that could cause conflict, couldn't it? I would be all for this...but I understand this is probably a radical idea.

Maybe the concept of the game should be changing from a Tri-Family based idea to a more of a Rust-Centric and some other outside influence being the main focus of conflict. Maybe we need another town instead, to spread out the population and cause an OBVIOUS and GLARING conflict between the two towns. Rust vs Town B. I don't know... I just really do want something :/

People've -tried- to engender chances for interclan rivalry, and these go blatantly ignored by a majority of the pbase. A -scav run- is the perfect chance to -get- this interclan rivalry, because it's got people from every clan. You should be interacting. You should be making it not boring. You should be the change you're hoping to see. Play it as you want it to be.

Problem is, trying to create conflict is shot down 99% of the time. Not talking about the tard indies that frequent the Boozer and shit-talk the families, then get beat up and continue to shit-talk, and get beat up some more and get PKed. A scav run really isn't the perfect place for clan rivalry, either. People are trying to grind on npcs and avoid animated bandits. Boozer is the best place, fo sho. Also, haven't read page 4-6 yet, so this post might look pretty damn stupid.

Also, Jack and the Niners. lols

People keep suggesting, "Do this instead." It's been done. Exploring? Check. Roleplay for exploring? Check. Turf improvements? Check. Prize fighting? Check. Political jockeying? Check.

The only conflict/fighting that's come up in interclan-stuff has been solely related to "HE HURT MAH FEELINGS" and then shooting eachother over it, and more than half of it has been straight-up suicidal. People are trying. But a lot of people don't feel the need to carry their own weight.

ETA:

I've already tried to start conflict. Do you know what the net result was? I had the entire playerbase, bar one person, turn against me. Yeah, I'm not gonna bother with that again.

I've already tried to do things, and start things that weren't just pk and conflict. Do you know what I was told/Have been consistently told? Nope. Don't bother.

Maybe it was the clan I was in. Maybe it's the fact that we've reached a point where people legitimately act as if bar brawls, let alone actual conflict, is/are an uncommon occurrence. Maybe I, personally, am just not good enough to do this. Who knows? I'm certainly not going to try anymore. Because if I'm just going to get shot down every time, often and regularly, by everyone including the people in my own clan? There's no point. So fuck it.

Bump. Good post, right here.

Wait, wait, one more time.

Maybe people could actually start turf wars if other clans did turfquests they considered in their territory.

As clarification, that first paragraph wasn't meant for you. The rest were, sure--and yes, it's ridiculous when two clans get up in arms over a single Independent throwing a single punch at a single clan member.

Yet this happens almost every time. Conflict flares up to the point where the second someone throws a punch, it's a big deal, clanmates swarm to the Boozer, PK is threatened, duels are challenged, and it becomes a shitstorm. It's like people smell independent blood in the water and feeding frenzy.

The same sort of thing happens with IC conflict- it balloons into some massive conflagration where there's no middle ground between 'punch thrown' and 'street war', but that tends to be quashed because players don't like it. So usually what happens if one clanned PC gets too antagonistic/violent they get thrown out and killed soon after.

The bottom line is: the road to PK is really short, and there is considerable IC pressure to not cause conflict with other Families. Like someone mentioned, there's not a good reason to given the current circumstances.

My thought is that we've rebooted into surroundings and setting akin to early Atonement Beta, but we've brought along the mindset from the end game. Massively armored gigantor scav parties, stopping every fight to heal, to get stuff to craft. Except we're even lacking a goal to really get that stuff for.
