Well--namely, I suppose, is beating them within an inch of their life, and taking everything of consequence from them, but after doing that even just the one time, it's effectively nullifying their capacity to play the game for at least a week, if they know their way around the code, or weeks if they're a newbie. The scrip system has made it possible for indies to get back on their feet even if they lose all their shit to such an instance, but you know--I don't actually know how easy it is to replace gear, or molds or patterns or anything like that.
Completely robbing an indie blind for trash talk might make others band together though, so it might even out in the end, or it might just end exactly, I mean 100% exactly as I suggested it would, with the market being overtaken within a week, effectively, at least.
It makes me question the point, like--this is still very much a game. Thematically, yeah, a well armed group of individuals should always be able to reap and rape the spoils from less fortunate people, but then no one would play the less fortunate people ever again, eliminating a part of the playerbase or an interest in that part of the playerbase.
Unless you're some sort of weird masochist, but then you're probably into the roleplay more than game elements, so you never had much worth taking anyway, so you can continue to trash talk and run your mouth until you get PK'd by an irritated Family person.
Really, it's a no brainer why PC run market guards, or even (more believably, in my opinion) some sort of Indie founded coalition will never get off the ground. Because they'd be curbstomped like no tomorrow, because yeah, anyone possibly intending upon upsetting the status quo will set off a feeding frenzy.

I intend to test this, with some PC in the future.
So far I haven't actually seen anyone be clever about attempting it. Maybe they are, and I just don't see them, because that is sort of the point. If you announce on day 1 (sorry guy who announced this on day 1, don't mean to get personal ) that you intend to liberate indies from Family tyranny by banding them together in a brotherhood, then, yeah, obviously the Families are going to make sure that never happens by squishing you like a bug before you have any of your shit together.
So obviously that's not the way to go.
But I'm not remotely convinced it can't be done. Particularly now that there's preparation for admin support in the form of indie bases and so on.
Can you get enough indies together to be able to put some pressure here and there without arousing the suspicion/ire of the Families before you're ready for it? I strongly suspect so.
That said, I'm 100% in favor of the Market as an NPC-run zone, and honestly, as newbie friendly as possible. Because there are sometimes new players. Who we don't actually want to grief into ragequitting. All righty.

An indie gang/coalition in reality is nothing more than a street gang or group of people who come together to hang out because they feel they don't much of any power separately. Any kind of 'pressure' they push would be trying to snatch up more members, make goods that are considered 'illegal' to the families and such, but other than that, it's more or less an anarchist group trying to oppose a culture and way of life in a part of Rust. Rust is a -city-, with a large population that most people tend to ignore because they don't see it. Trying to topple or destabilize a Family's authority will take more than shouting in public saying "Down with Families. Up with Indies." because then you'd just be making another Family. Of indies. And there are already large portions of Rust living under the protection or life or whatever of the separate families. And then there's the neutral zone, which is also reportedly already the haunt of street gangs already who also already seem to think they're hot shit. Bottom line is of what I'm saying is basically that an indie coalition is nothing more than a fancy name for a gang or pseudo-family and any pressure is nothing but small rebellions to make themselves feel like they're doing something.

It's my opinion there should be a limit to how many PC cyborgs/not terrans can be approved and alive at anyone time based on player population. Since people are earning RPP and starter characters are starting to die, I think, PC unborged Terrans are slowly becoming the minority.

I disagree with that assessment Cruelcore, because the PC class of Rust makes up an OVERWHELMINGly small minority of the overall population.
If everyone wants to play a Cyborg or a Nixxer or a Nixxer Cyborg or a Nixxer Cyborg Ninja, let 'em.
Only maybe not the Nixxer part.

There are only four approved Titans and four approved Cyborgs, and only one Calistan. The only race with a significant number of players is Martian (14) and that is less than 10 of the number of currently alive Terran PCs (143). It might seem more disproportionate, sometimes, but that's mainly because players with RPP tend to play more than those without, or RPP goes more often to those who play the most.

Since we have coloured exits for water rooms and climb/drop rooms can we get a colour for dark rooms?
