Or one step further: You can't see the room name at all because it's too dark to see what's over there - even if you have a flashlight because its beam is too weak to give you a good idea unless you're watching that direction.

Rewrite, erase, or continue on page options for databooks would be -wonderful-

Paper, signatures and stamps would be pretty cool. We can manufacture it for blueprints and I think sending letters and reports between characters (who can read) would be quite a bit of fun. (minor follow-up suggestion: player written textbooks [I think those were in SoI])

I realized that I was sitting on a whole stack of suggestions, all of them far more trouble than they’re worth, but, that’s more or less the point of this thread, isn’t it? Marvel at my genius! Or.... ponder the bizarre and useless collection of things I think would be neat. Or ignore, whatever!
AIR CONDITIONING/HEATING: Yet another maintenance chore for mechanics/electricians, to further underscore the relative decadence of family life, or, you know, provide the less organized something else to drop the ball on. Although they may provide a message to the effect of “the room is pleasantly warm/cool” just to let you know everything is working the real fun is when it doesn’t. Checking against the weather outside a non-functional “climate control unit” could instead message with “it is stiflingly hot/achingly cold.” No message in the room and one can assume the report from Weather. Places like the Boozer could advertise “Central Air!” to lure indies from their steamy plastic hovels. Also reinforces that there -is- weather. Fun times.
“OTHER” WEARLOCS: Someone mentioned a lapel pin, and I thought it was a great idea, but currently impossible. Then it occurred to me that instead of having 27 individual wearlocs for lips, eyebrows, noses, nipples, navels, pinned to clothing, upper arm, mid-thigh, what have you, we could have -one- “other” for small items, which could be specified upon using the “attire” function. Also allows wearer to have both earrings and headset-radio-thing on. Multiple “other” slots would probably also be helpful, so a character can wear their favorite brooch -and- still keep a flask tucked in their container-garter. And by “flask” I realize that I probably mean “ziplock bag,” unless someone wants to make flasks for me. And no, a canteen will not fit in your garter. Speaking of which...
MORE CLOTHES: Tasseled pasties, “feather” boas, possibly made from fabric scraps. Fur coats (coyotes shall be ignored no longer!) Badass, non-dangly earrings, like safety pins or something, cuffs and collars, the list goes on.
WIELDABLE PILLOWS: Actually, on second thought, nevermind. Can you -imagine- the ludicrous twink sparring? Intention: good clean fun. Reality: two guys in armor going at it for six hours to up their dodge. This is why we can’t have nice things. Sigh.
and finally COFFEE: Because it’s -fantastic-. What would it be made of? I don’t know. Chemicals! I mean, that’s what Nescafe is, right? There are scrap coffeepots, maybe we need unscrap ones.
As you can see I’m just full of ideas. And caffeine. Mostly caffeine. But also ideas!
ETA: And an adult flag on the Boozer bathrooms. *narrows eyes*

Quick runoff:
Blue:
1) Interesting idea. Will look into its viability.
2) With wmotes (HELP WMOTE), this is pretty unnecessary! If you find an object that you believe should be wearable in more places, though, feel free to let us know.
3) We're always open to new variables. But, generally we want them to be fairly different. Pasties exist IG, nothing's stopping someone from embroidering some tassels onto them with DECORATE.
4) This might be word it just to watch a badass warrior beat the shit out of his foes with a pillow. I'm picturing Syrio Forel going toe to toe with a dozen Rusters, just smackin' 'em with a pillow 'til they're on the ground crying.
5) I do love coffee.
Coil:
Unfortunately this isn't an option for code reasons.

Oh, I've got some big goofy ideas, if we're doing those.
With Biology, uprooting a plant has no timer and produces three herbs. But actually planting one again has a two hour timer for one herb. I can see where the logistics of this might come in to prevent getting infinity herbs if there was no cooldown, but it's also kind of silly to think that it takes two hours to do something that you can really do in five minutes (or whatever the ingame time conversion is).
Instead, I'm wondering if the timer on planting could be removed and, to stop herbs from exploding to crazy levels, actual harvesting could have a chance to give 1-3 instead of a flat three? Codewise, I don't know if a craft can produce random results, so maybe 'robust' herbs would need to be changed to a gather item for that.
I feel it would still be pretty fair, since replanting herbs is already limited by needing loamy soil and a jug each time. (The scrap flower pot items should totally count for this too.)
Biology crafts themselves could also use a look over in general, since there's a few that don't actually apply to the setting or use items that don't exist but I'm assuming that will be in the craft overhaul.
Also: can we have bread? We can buy grains but they're only good for yeast!

I completely understand the code reasons thing, but maybe there could be some sort of databook-erase craft that resets the databook, essentially making a new, blank one to replace the old one?

That can be done but I can see people accidently erasing the wrong one and lots of crying ensuing.

If we're looking at air conditioning..
Can we please have refrigeration?
So tired of rotten meat smell >.>
Also, re: underwear--
Skimmed so dunno if this was brought up, but it seems like the layering effect maybe isn't entirely working. For normal armor, coat > hauberk > shirt layering works fine for damage, but for some reason the shirt will be fine, the hauberk will have a few scratches on it, and the bra will be entirely full of holes. Holds true for underwear and leggings, too, I think.
