so, for those of you who don't know..I played Rook! An angular, marred young man or something of that sort (I have a really short memory).
He was impulsive (obviously), brash, charming a bit, vicious, loyal, and could spin a good story when prompted. I love him, his story, and how he evolved because of all the wonderful people I played with. this includes but is not limited to:
Bastian- for being a leader that Rook could so easily follow. Driven, idealistic, and with a sense of fairness that Rook often lacked.
Levi- for being his polar opposite in so many ways. Considering vs. impulsive, cool vs. fiery, distant vs. amiable. Loved it and loves the foil the two were for each other.
Miranda- for being an intelligent, driven character with a greatly thought-out backstory and a sort of dry wit that provided me with hours of enjoyment.
Rachel (of course)- for being the first person to truly stop and look at him as more than a wrecked man or just another comrade. For sticking with him no matter what and saving his life so many times. Her love kept him going and made him dare for a better life.
Rue- oh Rue..My adorable little Rue. Such a display of cute rage and idealism, the Rook that might have been in a different life. His reactions to Rook's tales and exploits, as well as his reaction to Rachel/Rook's deaths and his evolution as a PC, are amazing.
Jay- the jokester. From the -very- first time I logged in with the plate joke to the last time I saw him, he was always great for a laugh or a somber conversation of shit gone wrong
Alexis- truly one of the most surprising evolutions in character development I have experienced late in Rook's life, and I mean that in the best of ways. So damn sad I couldn't get more RP out of her before the end.
Mertz- never have I been more frustrated with my PC's distrust and dislike of other Families, because these few RP sessions were among the very best I've had, and he is easily one of the most compelling characters I have seen.
Reese- her witty attitude, burgeoning insecurity, constant -horrible- stories, and ability to be herself even in a world falling apart really impressed me.
...and many more! When I am less distracted, I will expound on each of those and likely add more. It was awesome fun, and frankly, dive-bombing Hyperion is a pretty awesome way to go out, so I was pleased with it.
P.S. The attitude of the Reds after the death of Rachel/Rook tore my heart to pieces, and the emotional RP I saw from people (you probably know who you are) made it much easier to bear.

Was so sad and surprised about Rook. Amazing character and kudos for a story well-played. Miss having him in the game to interact with, but you're right, there are few cooler ways to go out.

I can't believe it's already been a month! I played Rachel, a round-faced, dark-featured young woman.
She was my first honest attempt at playing a believable character who didn't want to be everyone's buddy. I still wasn't completely satisfied with her at the end, I think she was still nicer than I intended her to be, but I learned a whole lot while playing her and she was a bunch of fun! She never did put out...
I was very much at peace with her death. Even before she'd joined the Reds, Hyperion was extremely important to her and her family. Combine that with the fact that she would have never willingly been able to let Rook go alone... it was definitely a gamble she would have bet her life on, and much more fitting than almost any other death I could imagine.
A huge thanks to:
Mertz, for being a terribly, horribly, unbelieveably compelling character and almost single-handedly turning me off-peak out of sheer desire to interact more. Different clans or not!
Rue, for being a bright and vibrant flower in her life, for always making her smile inside no matter how grumpy she was outside, and for everything with her dear ol' mam. The little brother she never had.
Reese, for being a witty, clever, and wonderfully flawed character. The entertaining banter, the glimpses or all-out exposure of her insecurities, and the quiet pre-sleep conversations that made Rach fall in love with her really made this one of my favorite characters.
Tango, for drawing out the playful, shy, and giddy young woman in her that she never wanted to acknowledge. That first kiss and the brief whirlwind romance kept her spirits bouyed in those early times in the Reds, and her heart never did stop aching fondly for her ol' 'yote.
Shay, for being her very first friend and never giving up, for gossip over a smoke, and for always being able to find common ground no matter how long it had been.
Bastille, for being her hero and a spitfire and super, super, mean, yet somehow always making you want to go back for more, just to learn another little thing about her.
Rook, of course, for loving her no matter how much she tried to stop it, for sticking with her no matter how angry or afraid she was (and how much she took it out on him), and for giving up his chance of *ever* losing his virginity to give her the marriage and the hope for a future she never let herself consider. "Lasts 'til the end."
Rendal and Maul, for turning conflict into RP opportunity! You have no idea how much I appreciated this.
Miranda (for drive and depth), Alex (for having more beneath the business), Miri (for being wonderful before a tragic death), Marshall (for those little connections with his big heart), Harley (for being Harley the Fox! Aweseome character), Bastian (for including her when she so desperately needed purpose), Mohg (for shooting her in the head and working for forgiveness), Levi (for being so infuriatingly *boring* in an awesomely entertaining way), Jay (for being so damn funny even in hard times), Fiora (for being more than a gimmick character, and for developing), and all the other Reds, especially the ones who sat for a moment to enjoy her cooking.
I love you all. <3
