There's definitely PCs that have lasted RL years on other RPIs and that's quite a change. Say having an 18 year old PC to begin with that makes it 2 RL years.

I (respectfully) disagree with basically all of this.
Getting your age changed in order to RP having aged isn't actually possible, because a fixed amount of time has passed in the game world, and for other PCs. I can't say that, in the time it took your PC to age six months, mine aged three years. What if we've known each other all that time?
And, as Matt said, I would argue that the difference between, say, 18 and 20 or 21 is potentially quite significant, particularly in an eventful life like the ones lead by PCs on PRPI. And the younger you are to start with, the more significant the change would be.
So much does happen to a character that, the longer they live, the less it makes sense for all of that to have happened in three months vs a whole year. In my experience, even at 4x speed, the number of husbands some female PCs on SOI managed to lose in two IG years was staggering. Had all of that happened in a mere six months, we would have been forced to treat them as insane.
That's an extreme example of something that I think is basically true of all PCs who live longer than a couple of RL months. Things happen to characters, and if that character is a three-dimensional, thinking, feeling person, having things happen to them changes them. But change is restricted by the passage of time, too, if it's going to be realistic and believable. If not enough time passes, everyone just remains what they were when they commenced, regardless of what happens to them, or else they go through such a rapid series of flips and turns that the picture created is more one of deteriorating mental health than of growing older.

I wasn't suggesting for people to just get their age changed willy-nilly, only along the real time frame.
But yeah, if characters really do last that long, it's a valid concern that some people might not roleplay aging while others do.

I'm against 1x aging. Mostly because my character right now is deisgned to age as time goes by.
My biggest thing is really not thewounds that magically clear up in the course of a few minutes, but the physical and emotion affects they would impinge on people's roleplay.
Emotional growth example: Something truly horrifying happened to my character and they sunk into a pit of grief and despair. She was able to work through it in the 3-4 IG months thanks to the help of close friends (which I think is a totally acceptable time period if it was IRL) and it only took me a month to do it. Having to actually rp it out for 3-4 IRL months would be rather ...tedious and I guess it would have gotten on the nerves of more than a few people always being Miss Downer.
As a physical example: I break a bone, I don't want to be out of combat for over a month! I want to be back in the game and fighting fit about 8 days!
(Note: Bias may be a factor because I am super stoked to have a party for my PC's 21st birthday)

Having had a character age from 22 to 38 on SoI, I'd rather like to see time stay as is. Ageing matters. Maybe sixteen years is a bit of an oddity, but smaller amounts matter too.
Also, the whole broken bones, healing, and emotional trauma stuff too. The present ratio prevents all that from being debilitating.

Hmm, yeah, I can see how a 1:1 timeframe would be tedious at times.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding something, does age actually work as a mechanic now, in score? Or are some people just roleplaying it while others don't, anyway?
An unrelated suggestion: Instead of having administration transport you back when you camp on a run, use a command, something like HOME - that has the same constraints and delay as CAMP, but the messages are geared more towards having you become a vNPC on the run, rather than sleeping in the wilderness, and after five hours approximately, transport you back to Rust. To prevent abuse, the character could be put into a limbo sort of state for those five hours, or the delayed transportation section of the code could have a check to see if the person was offline and only work if they were.
This would:
- prevent cases where someone might be stuck in the wilderness for days
- cut back on administrative time spent on the chore of transporting people
- make camping on a run less immersion-breaking

A destitute crime infested part of the city
but wait
wait
being a part of a family or having too many nice things on your person has a chance of spawning NPC's to attack you
it'd totally make criminal/outcast characters viable

Can we get the color "natural-hued" removed from the game?
It reeks of a copout where you refuse to describe any color at all because you can't determine the colors of a natural hue.
