More for cosmetic masks, though.

Breadloaf, in its current Atonement form, grows naturally from genetically-engineered yeast growths. It means that you scavenge it from places that it grows wild, like all other commodities. I've heard that the apartment complex is still there, so maybe there are still overgrown rooms infested with breadloafs there. Like a yeasty nirvana.
There were originally hidden yeast-mobs that would spawn from growth rooms. Their progs helped yeast to spread out organically and infest from an origin point.
Why? Because it was a ton of crafts and not as fun/thematic to just let people bake bread. "Make 'em go risk danger and scavenge it!" we said. Likely, the staff will reverse this decision eventually and give you real bread.
You also have Biology crafts that extract the breadloaf to get yeast spores, which are used to brew.

None of the breaditem/mob appear to exist in the currently accessible apartments. Maybe upstairs?

None of that is valid anymore. Bread things were removed. Yeast packets are now grown from yeast spores you can purchase in the market.

Two kits are not able to be used in the disassemble empty-case craft :
an armour cleaning kit in a $color case
a weapon cleaning kit in a $color case
I believe these are gained from the newbie shops.
It would be nice to get them in line with the other tool kits, so we don't have kit objects with no uses that we just have to junk.
